Most of the religious scholars of Pakistan are somehow affiliated with or show respect to the Darul Alum Deoband of India. However due to political differences our Ullema have deprived the Pakistani people of the political viewpoint of Indian Ullema.
Very few Pakistanis might know that Maulana Arshad Madani, the president of Jamiat Ullema-e-Hind, supports secularism for the integrity of India but here in Pakistan secularism is termed as infidelity and every effort is made to save Pakistan from this faithlessness. In India secularism is thought to be the remedy to get rid of the curse of sectarianism but in Pakistan secularism is considered the root cause of all the evils of the modern world. Surprisingly whenever minorities are attacked and harassed in India then Pakistani religious parties like Jamat e Islami deride India of its deviation from the secular approach.
Last year Maulana Arshad Madani stated that seventy years ago the cause of division of India was sectarianism and if today again the same temptation will raise its head then results will be the same. Therefore Maulana Arshad Madani considers secularism inevitable for the unity of India.
In Pakistan the period where religious pundits would declare religious degrees to isolate any group or person in society, is passed. Now to keep the educated young men disgusted from the enlighten and liberal segments, the concept of labeling secularism as infidelity and blasphemous is fabricated. The difference of opinion about the secularism and the question of nationalism is the root cause of indifference of Pakistani Ullema towards political and religious approach of Indian religious scholars. Very rarely Indian Ullema are invited by the Pakistani religious and political leaders to their religious congregations or political rallies.
Politically there is a wide gulf between the Ullema of Pakistan and Hindustan. Ours Ullema and politicians dream about the disintegration and destruction of India while Indian Muslim religious leaders talk about the integrity and solidarity of India. Our Ullema support the Jihad in Kashmir and Indian Ullema even don’t consider it Jihad. Indian Muslims neither took part in Afghan war nor did their religious leaders support Afghan Jihad. However our Ullema get to paradise via Kabul and the raw material to Afghan Jihad was supported by the Fatwas of Pakistani Ullema.
The enforcement of Sharia is the sole aim of Pakistani Ullema and religious political parties and it seems to them or they want to show it to the public that it will end their miseries. But in India sharia is not the demand and even before partition it was not the priority of Indian Muslims. On the other hand Pakistani Ullema dream about the imposition of Sharia on international level too.
The international upheavals in the Islamic world do not affect the Indian Muslims. However Pakistani Muslims feel aggrieved for the miseries of the Muslims of Afghanistan, Palestine, Syria, Iraq, Turkey, Bosnia and Burma. Not only they feel aggrieved but rather they consider it their religious responsibility to send their volunteers to these countries. That might be the reason that the tribal areas of Pakistan had become safe haven for the International Mujahedeen.
It can be easily concluded that Indian Muslim leaders are representing the moderate Islam where tolerance is the key when different communities live together. Not only they represent the moderate Islam but the credit goes to them that they have kept aloof Indian Muslims from the evils of globalization of terrorism. It is a dilemma that Pakistani Ullema could not save their fellow countrymen from the international agenda of exploiting religion for the accomplishment of vested interests of International establishment.
